Creative Psychotherapy

Relax, Rebalance, and Reconnect to peace within

Creative Psychotherapy is the intentional use of creative methods for the purpose of therapy and healing of the soul.

The language of the soul is in images, and so, sometimes when we have something that we haven’t been able to process, or a pattern that keeps repeating, talking about it doesn’t always transform it in the way that we would like.

When we use story, art, and connect to the body, use movement, walk in nature, use ceremony, we can access wisdom and insight which is so helpful in the therapy process.

I work very intuitively, and have been a qualified practitioner for 20 years, and have a huge toolbox of practices that can be of help in transforming old patterns.

You don’t need to be an artist or creative to enjoy this process. All activities are simple and perfect for beginners.

About your practitioner
I have been a qualified Creative Psychotherapist since 2001. I have twenty years experience of working with adults and young people in the area of addiction, mental health, and internationally with communities recovering from conflict.

I have a vast toolbox gained from continual professional development, and with you, we will journey together weaving creativity, nature, meditation, structured exercises, the sacred, ceremony, healing, psychotherapy, and forgiveness together with a good dose of gentleness, humour and self-compassion.

I am so moved by the profound shifts that happen when someone chooses to transform their life, and I am honoured to offer this to you.

What happens during a Creative Psychotherapy session?
During the first session, we will chat about what is happening for you in your life, and what you would most like to transform, change and improve. It is an opportunity for us both to get a sense if we are a good fit to work together. If we are, we can agree on how many sessions you would like to start with, and so the journey begins.

There is no typical creative psychotherapy session, but as each session is unique. However, we will often follow a similar structure:

1. Decide on a theme for the session.

2. Begin with a grounding meditation and set the intention for the session.

3. Checking in on the previous week, and anything that has coming up.

4. Main activity, which could be using objects, artist, an activity in nature, meditation, a structured written exercise, ceremony, and forgiveness together with a good dose of gentleness, humour and self-compassion.

5.  Reflection: We finish the session talking about what has been revealed through the main activity, and any follow up activities required for the week ahead.

Where do you offer the sessions from?
The session can take place online via Zoom, or face to face at:

The Cornish Therapy Centre,

Redruth TR15 1AU

There is parking outside the centre, or in a small car park to the right of the building. If all of the spaces are taken, there is a long stay car park a few minutes walk away at the New Cut Car Park, Redruth TR15 1AF.

If arriving on public transport, the nearest train station is Redruth, and the centre is a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Numerous buses also stop at the train station.

How much are the Creative Therapy sessions?
Creative Therapy sessions are £55 and are 75 minutes long.

The first session is £50 for 75 minutes and can be booked here:

It is recommended to have a minimum of seven sessions to allow for the therapeutic relationship and process to unfold, and for you to begin to see positive change. In these sessions, you come with what you would like to explore in the session. I will hold space for you, listen, witness, and use tools, techniques, and practical exercises drawn from my twenty years of qualified experience, to help you to process, gain awareness, transform and reach your desired outcomes.

What are your Covid-19 health & safety practices?
– Please sanitise your hands upon entering the building.

– In line with current Government guidelines, and in order to keep us all safe whilst COVID-19 cases continue to be present within our communities, both patient and practitioner must wear a face mask whilst inside the Cornish Therapy centre, this includes during the Reiki treatment. When the patient is lying face down, the face mask may temporarily be removed.

"These creative psychotherapy sessions with Helen have been a fantastic help. I realise what has been getting me into a depressive and anxious state, and how to now help myself. The sessions have been very empowering, given me the insight I needed, and have helped me to listen to myself. I have found the strength and courage to express how I feel. These sessions with Helen have taught me so much about myself, and I feel like I’m growing again, and that my journey is just going to get better."

– Sasha

"These creative therapy sessions with Helen have been really helpful in helping me identify why I feel the way I do, and this has been the only thing through everything that has given me the insight I needed. The therapist has been fantastic and I would highly recommend. Thank you. These sessions with Helen have quite possibly saved my life."

– Monica

"After years of receiving therapy, psychotherapy, counselling, CPN, Victim Support, medication…these creative therapy sessions with Helen have helped me more, given me more insight, a safe space, supportive to explore issues that have been holding me back and been entrenched for years."
