‘When we give ourselves compassion, we are opening our hearts in a way that can transform our lives.’ Kristin Neff
Forgiveness literally means to ‘give away’.
It is a process of releasing feelings, beliefs, thoughts, blame, victimhood, the past, and suffering, in order to experience freedom, peace, and love.
But just how do we ‘release these things?’
Often we imagine that we are just goingto ‘drop them or ‘put them down” like we would a heavy box we’ve been carrying. Or, we are going to ignore them, hoping they will go away in time.
But ‘release’ in the forgiveness context is a little different and often involves shining a light onto the parts of ourselves that have been cast into shadow, and are being fed by darkness.
The light we cast is that of self-compassion and has the quality of love, gentleness, and courage to sit with, listen to, and see our suffering clearly.
It is with the help of the light, that the remarkable healing transformation of forgiveness occurs.
In this Livestream, on Wednesday 9th December at 7p.m (UK time) we will be exploring the subject of self-compassion, what it is, and how it helps us to transform our suffering with the forgiveness process.
