‘ As I walked out the door towards my freedom, I knew that if I did not leave all the anger, hatred and bitterness behind, that I would still be in prison.’ Nelson Mandela
You are warmly invited to join me, Helen Tanner, in ‘Exploring Forgiveness’ and take this one day journey on the ancient path to freedom and peace.
Forgiveness has the extraordinary capacity to help us to heal from the harm which has been caused by other people’s behaviour, free us from the past, and un-burden us from the weight of carrying resentment and anger.
‘Exploring Forgiveness’ together, we will clarify what forgiveness is, how it links to and is different from reconciliation, what the forgiveness journey entails, and what helps to navigate the terrirtory. Inspirational stories, practical tools and discussions are woven throughout the day. The main focus is on forgiving others, but we will also touch upon the journey to forgiving ourselves.
Forgiveness is one of those subjects that just about everyone has an opinion about. You may too. I became interested in it in 2008, when I was studying a two-year programme in international conflict resolution – there was not a single mention of forgiveness. Nobody was talking about it as a vehicle for peace.
Why?
The reasons for the dismissal and silence revealed themselves as I explored.
So did the extraordinary stories of ordinary people who had experienced some of the most terrible things, and yet had navigated a fierce, courageous and often lonely path, through anger, rage, and fear, to a place of healing, freedom and peace.
‘The Exploring Forgiveness Workshop was a profound, powerful, inspiring, healing and soothing day for me, thank you again. I won’t forget this work, and am so grateful to have been introduced to you and it.’ Karen
