Self-Forgiveness is an inner journey to release painful feelings and shameful beliefs about yourself. This is achieved with the help of the loving light and wisdom of compassion.

As you release patterns of feeling, thinking, and behaving which are no longer serving you, you are free to embrace a more authentic version of you, aligned to your Soul and your unique life purpose.

 In the Self-Compassion & Forgiveness Programme, you are guided step by step in a small group, or one to one, through the process to release what you no longer need, receive the gift of a higher perspective, and remember who you really are beneath the pain and suffering, and reclaim your inner resources for your onward journey. 

On your self-forgiveness journey, you will be guided through a process of releasing what no longer serves you, and is adding to your suffering. You will be supported to:

✔️  Release self-judgment.

✔️  Release self-punishing unhealthy coping behaviours.

✔️ Release your shameful limiting core beliefs.

✔️ Release obsessive thinking about the past.

✔️  Release your rage.

✔️ Release the guilt which is weighing you down.

✔️ Release yourself from waiting for the ones that you may have hurt to forgive you first, or grant you ‘permission’ to forgive yourself.

Once you have released that which no longer serves you, you will receive the gift of a ‘higher soul-centred’ perspective on the situation of which you are struggling to forgive yourself. This gift will enable:

✔️  You to see the context in which your younger self may have acted against your values and integrity and the positive intention behind the actions. This may enable you to both find compassion for yourself, and also to gain wisdom for your onward life journey.

✔️  You to remember that your life is a journey, and the situation you are struggling to forgive yourself for, is but a painful chapter, and the rest is yet to be written.

✔️ That your true nature is that of love, and as you release the suffering from your life, you are free to share your unique talents and gifts with the world.

 

The final stage of your journey is an invitation to reclaim parts of yourself that have become buried or have been silenced beneath the pain of living a life not fully aligned to your values and Soul purpose. You will be re-claiming:

What does Self-Forgiveness feel like?

It feels like a burden has been lifted, and that you have been released from the cord that has bound you to the past, the pain, and those whom you have hurt and been hurt by.

You will feel connected to your intuition, your vision, your joy, and your loving heart once more. You will feel a stronger connection to your Soul and have a greater clarity on your future direction. 

Moving beyond your inner conflicts will leave you with the sense of  having ‘pulled yourself together.’ This leads to a deep sense of peace within, and a grounded confidence in who you are. 

How the Programme works

The next group programme begins in February 2021.

The Self- Compassion & Forgiveness Programme is fourteen sessions long.

It is delivered live online, on Zoom,  in a small group, or on a one to one basis.

Sessions take place weekly, usually with a small break after seven sessions.

You will be guided and coached step by step through the process, by Helen, and you will be invited to do tasks in between the live sessions, which form an essential part of the programme.

If you join the group programme, you will have access to a private Facebook group where the weekly recordings will be uploaded, and worksheets and reflective prompts will be downloadable. You can pose questions into the group for other group members to respond to, as well as Helen. In addition, you will also have two 30 minute one to one coaching sessions with Helen-bookable when you most need them in the programme. 

If you choose the one to one option you will have access to Helen directly in between sessions via email. You will be sent worksheets and reflective prompts to complete in between your Zoom coaching sessions.

About Your Guide

Helen Tanner LLB MA PgDIPDTH is a Forgiveness Coach and International Peacebuilder. She has been working within the healing and peace arenas for the past 28 years.

She is a qualified Forgiveness Coach and Creative Psychotherapist and holds a  Masters Degree in International Conflict Resolution and an Honours Degree in Law.

Helen has experienced:7 years of delivering mental health and psychosocial programmes in war-affected countries including Kosovo, Belfast, Libya, Myanmar and South Sudan.7 years delivering psychotherapy to groups of young people, and adults.7 years as charity director delivering programmes for those recovering from addiction to lead a drug-free life.

Helen has been researching Forgiveness since 2008, and studied with the Forgiveness Institute in the US.

She has undertaken the forgiveness journey, and emerged stronger, and with a greater capacity to love than ever following a devastating betrayal.

Helen has and Irish and Cornish heritage, and she currently lives in Cornwall with her partner Barnaby, and their cat Casper. She enjoys spending time in nature, singing and creating art with textiles which she gathers from her global travels.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the programme work?

You are guided step by step through the Self-Forgiveness programme.

The process is led by Helen, with a weekly 90 minute zoom call . We will be covering a particular ‘topic’  / step of the journey each session. There will be teachings, meditations, a workbook, exercises to complete, guided visualisations, activities. There will be some activities to do between sessions.

Is the Programme face to face or online?

The Self-Forgiveness programme is currently delivered online. In future, when COVID restrictions are lifted, and when it is safe to do so, the programme will also be available face to face.

Is this a religious programme?

No, this is a secular programme. However, it does have a spiritual flavour to it.

The Self-Forgiveness Programme is open and relevant to all – people of faith or none.

The underlying assumption of the programme is that Forgiveness is a healing process, which is accessible to all – regardless of belief.

What is Forgiveness?

Forgiveness is the eventual release of feelings of resentment, rage, and desire for revenge towards someone who has harmed you, or against yourself, for your own freedom, wellbeing, and peace.

Forgiving someone can take place even if the person forgiven has not been told. It can be a private act and decision.

Forgiveness can take place even when the other person has not apologised.

Forgiveness is a personal choice.

Forgiveness is a personal process.

Forgiveness is not forgetting, condoning or excusing behaviours.

Forgiveness does not mean that you have to reconcile with the other person.

Forgiveness does not excuse the other person from justice or legal accountability.

Forgiveness should not be used as an excuse to stay in an abusive situation.

Forgiveness should not be used a means of self-harming.

Is the programme available in a group and one to one?

The Self-Forgiveness Programme is suitable for you if:

1. You have a situation that you are struggling to move on from, where you feel responsible for causing harm to yourself / and or others.

2. You are ready to free yourself from the suffering, and the situation.

3. You are willing to take responsibility for your Forgiveness journey and your own healing and transformation.

Is this the only Forgiveness service you offer?

 

No.

If you join the Self- Forgiveness Programme you will be guided through the forgiveness process.

There are some other shorter options available, as well as Forgiveness coaching sessions which will get you started on your Forgiveness journey, or help you with an area where you are particularly stuck.

There are also Forgiveness talks and workshops available.
